Call For Papers
The Computer Journal is one of the longest-established journals serving all branches of the academic computer science community, and its aims is to publish any new research advancing the discipline of Computing Science. It currently consists of four sections:

Section A: Computer Science Theory, Methods and Tools

Section A has as its primary focus research within the theory, software and system architectures that are central to computer science. Broadly speaking, Section A covers areas of research within the CCS under: computer systems organization; software and its engineering; theory of computation; design and analysis of algorithms; and mathematics of computing (primarily discrete mathematics).

Section B: Computer and Communications Networks and Systems

Section B focuses on new technologies relating to computer and communications networks and related systems. Section B covers areas of research within the CCS under: Networks. Potential authors should note that the focus is specifically on computing-related aspects, and so papers relating to radio and telecommunication issues are out of scope.

Section C: Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analytics

Section C focuses on theoretical and experimental contributions in machine learning including, but not restricted to, neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy logic, swarm intelligence and intelligent systems. The section seeks high quality submissions reporting primarily on new computational architectures, learning theories and techniques, biological life modelling, pattern recognition and on interdisciplinary topics with artificial intelligence and artificial life. The section will consider submissions reporting on new methodologies and their formal evaluation in one or more of the above areas, if these produce results that validate non-trivial contributions in computer science research and do not just serve to repurpose one or more existing methods. The section will also consider submissions on intelligent systems applications if they seek to make a non-trivial contribution in one or more of the above areas and where the application area falls strictly within computer science, for example, data mining, digital games, extended reality. Authors considering submission of a survey type of article may wish to consider first the journal’s author guidelines on survey articles.

Section D: Security in Computer Systems and Networks

The main focus of Section D is the provision of security and privacy in computer systems and networks, and contributions are welcome across all the main technical areas of information security and privacy. Please note that the journal does not consider papers focusing on fundamental and mathematical aspects of cryptography (including the proposal of related schemes and primitives, or the presentation of attacks against them), which would be more appropriately targeted toward more specialised journals. We remain interested in submissions relating to applied cryptography (i.e. considering how cryptographic methods and tools are put to use in wider security and privacy contexts).
