Special Issues
Special Issue on Mixed-Anion and Anion-Controlled Inorganic Materials (VSI: Mixed-Anion Materials)
Submission Date: 2025-10-31

Solid state compounds containing metallic elements in combination with more than one anion, or those in which the choice of anion has a major influence on the properties, are a growth area of solid-state chemistry showcased at the fifth Anion-controlled New Inorganic Materials (ANIM) symposium at the European Materials Research Society 2025 Spring meeting. The materials offer control of band gaps, band energies, carrier mobilities, magnetic exchange interactions, and other properties, and present new synthetic challenges as well as offering new crystal structures and complementary oxidation states for the metals to those available in other materials. The compounds offer new opportunities in exploiting the properties of new solids, particularly in a range of energy applications. Special Issue on 19th European Conference on Solid State Chemistry (ECSSC 2025)
Submission Date: 2026-01-31

The ECSSC conference series is one of the most important symposia in the field of solid state chemistry, covering a combination of chemistry, physics, crystallography and materials properties of solid functional materials with extended structures. The 19th edition (ECSSC 2025) will include, but not be limited to, battery electrode and electrolyte materials, magnetic materials, semiconductors, superconductors, thermoelectric materials, photoabsorbers and photocatalysts, sensors, pigments, luminescent materials, ceramics, heterogeneous catalysts and much more. It also describes new solid-state compounds and their properties, synthesis methods for oxides, chalcogenides, and other solids, and characterisation methods for both crystalline and disordered materials using state-of-the-art techniques and computational approaches. We welcome reports from ECSSC 2025 participants.
